The need for Alternative means of Transportation

The absence of an effective transport system in several states of Nigeria has left Nigerians to the mercy of dubious transporters. These transporters who are guided by the action and inaction of certain states Governments, have become law onto themselves.

Commuters across the federation go through great difficulties and harrowing experiences before reaching their various destinations daily.

This is as a result of not only the prohibitive transport fares but also the infiltration of the transport system by criminals.

Quote 1

In some states of the federation, tricycle operators and commercial motorcycle riders popularly known as okada riders, have for some time now, being having a field day exploiting helpless commuters for their benefit and that of the Government.

-Legalizing Crime and Criminality

The insinuation is that the affected states covertly sanction the activities of the criminals who have infiltrated the transport system.

However, it is worrisome to note that some state Governments have obstinately rejected the popular agitation that okada riders ought to be banned from plying major roads across the country.

This is due to the unabating various forms of criminality that have become their stock-in-trade. Sadly, a number of state Governments rely on the revenue generated from this source.

-Landlords and Tenants Associations, Crime and Criminality

Surprisingly, the tricycle operators and okada riders have overwhelmed the transport system to the extent that the Government's docility has become glaring.

Indeed, there is an urgent need for regulation of transport fares.

-Law Enforcement: The Reactionary Approach

The affected state Governments ought to provide an alternative means of transportation that shall be adequate for the large population, so as not to force the citizenry to label Those-in-Charge inhuman and insensitive Interestingly dissatisfaction and disaffection currently pervades the lenght and breadth of the country.

Wrong Decisions and Leadership

Lead 1Human capacity development is key to the development of any country in the world.

To achieve development, the appropriate manpower that will impact positively on society is imperative. What is the standard of education?

There are yet to be positive changes in primary, secondary and tertiary education.

This is because maximum efficiency and productivity in the system are elusive.

The hunger and poverty in the land have impaired skill acquisition at all levels of education to the extent that it has negatively affected the decision of the leaders at the center and states of the federation.

The wrong decision by the leadership at a particular point in time resulted in the kidnap incident at Chibok, Borno state.

The effects of the kidnap is alive till this moment. Such leadership has been tested and discovered to be faulty. Indeed.

The last seven years are enough to ensure that wrong decisions are not made again, to avoid a repeat of the gory and harrowing experiences of Nigerians.

Note-

Be wary of criminally minded individuals in journalism who conspire with law enforcement and security agencies to attack professional journalists.

Eligibility, Competence and Governance

Demo 2Controversies surrounding certificates of some Nigerians with political ambitions has up to this moment not attracted the attention of Those-in-Authority for obvious reasons.

However, Nigerians expect those involved to convincingly extricate themselves from the web already knitted around them. Sadly, the media, perhaps, for pecuniary reasons, is complicit in the covert efforts not to get to the root of the controversies.

Read-Helplessness in the Face of Dirt

Indeed, a lot is wrong with the system which can be seen in the sorry state of all sectors of the economy.

The failure to acquire qualitative education results in incompetence, mediocrity and ignorance, just as it has become glaring among the youth that education is no longer the means to ends.

-Legalizing Crime and Criminality

Furthermore, it is worrisome to note that even though background checks were conducted on most political office holders, the results of such checks have not been mad to have impact on various political offices in the land.

-Landlords and Tenants Associations, Crime and Criminality

The outcome is the failure to meet the expectations of the people. Various reasons including religious, tribal and political considerations have impeded the activation of a process that shall ensure that only the most eligible and competent occupy positions in governance.

-Law Enforcement: The Reactionary Approach

The hunger in the land coupled with the prohibitive prices of foodstuffs are both reflections of the comatose state of the agricultural sector at all levels of government. In addition, the price of kerosene and transport fares have gone beyond the reach of impoverished Nigerians.

There is no justification for Those-in-Authority and those who have been there in the recent past to aspire to political offices.

Between Interests and Falsehood

Lies 1The focus of Those-in-Authority presently, is to ensure that the outcome of the Ekiti, Osun and 2023 General elections meete their expectations and not the expectations of Nigerians.

Read-Helplessness in the Face of Dirt
The prospect of not having  free, fair and credible elections to achieve their electoral expectations endangers democracy.

Sychophants within the corridors of pwoer have made it impossible for leaders to proffer solutions to the multiferous problems confronting Nigerians. The leaders are fully aware of these problems

The Complicity of Those-in-Charge

Crime 6In the last three years, various meetings held between Those-in-Authority and individuals who insist that they have been shortchanged in the political and electoral process in a number of states.

Read-Helplessness in the Face of Dirt
These meetings have only successfully exposed the self-centered and selfish mindset of Those-in-Authority.
The decision not to honor the agreements and abide by decisions taken jointly has dimmed the prospects of an unspecified number of political office holders to cling on to power in 2023 and beyond.
Indeed, the realization that their choices for political offices are not fit and proper persons to be entrusted with such offices took a long time to manifest.

-Legalizing Crime and Criminality
The illiterate population in several communities is a significant part of the problem.
Seasoned politicians opine that Those-in-Authority presently had from the onset prepared a different agenda which has resulted in the bad shape of governance in the affected states.
It is a known fact that the POLICE are constitutionally authorized to effect the arrest, to apprehend persons who have committed offenses or who are alleged to have committed offenses.

-Landlords and Tenants Associations, Crime and Criminality
In the same vein, it is the duty of the state to, afterward prosecute all these persons who were arrested.
What is the situation? Non-state actors who have continuously terrorized citizens are left as though they have committed no offenses and to this extent, Nigerians believe that this does not go down well for democracy.
The selective enforcement of the law is the order of the day, while certain non-state actors still operate as though they are above the law, which suggests that they are acting on orders from above to create all kinds of havoc in these states.

-Law Enforcement: The Reactionary Approach
Lawlessness, crime, all forms of criminality, and evil continue unabated right before the eyes of Those-in-Authority with no sign that any action shall be taken to curtail this ugly trend.
This attitude of Those-in-Authority is not only contrary to the spirit and laid down rules of the constitution, but it is also diabolical and evil.

The Privatization of the Power Sector

Govt 9For the past seven years, the present administration in Nigeria has failed to provide the right impact and confidence in the minds of foreign investors.

It is not in contention that with regular electricity supply, the successful implementation of an impressive business economic blueprint will remain a mirage.

Polity 1

Emerging Natural Factors

PolityIn most countries around the world, the interest of an individual has never been greater than those of these countries.

However, this is not the case in several countries in sub-Saharan Africa.Indeed, a political party that has attained political power, is at an advantage to address the fundamental national question revolving around equality and justice.

Read-Helplessness in the Face of Dirt

Unfortunately, in Nigeria today, the political party in power is proud to have regional and ethnic alliances which have ensured a divided country.

The rule of law is increasingly being rubbished on a daily basis while political and religious intolerance is now the culture and tradition. The unabating state of insecurity and the unending violence which has claimed several thousands of lives, suggests that the former and the latter have become means to various ends for Those in Authority.

-Legalizing Crime and Criminality
A political party ought to be a medium for the expression of the choice of the electorate and the avenue through which like-minded people may express their collective choices with vigorous unanimity.
However, in the Nigerian context, a political party focuses on reinforcing the mindset of the present ruling political party elites and selling of land belonging to government owned schools in several states to supporters, cronies, admirers and well wishers.

-Landlords and Tenants Associations, Crime and Criminality

Those who have played and still play significant roles in subverting the will of the people are clinging to tightly to sensitive political offices, even as recent events have clearly shown that Those in authority are not interested in presenting a credible alternative set of leaders and alternative policy choices to Nigerians, most of whom have been impoverished and are disillusioned.

The suffocating security situation across Nigeria and the priorities of certain heads of law enforcement agencies including focusing on the mode of dressing of their personnel has not brought reprieve in any way.

Security lapses in several states have been recorded with a wave of the hands, even though lives were lost. The fact that concrete efforts are yet to be made to address the worrisome situation, puts the blame at the doorstep of the Powers of today.
