Drug Dealer Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison for Selling the Fentanyl that Resulted in Death of User; Longest Sentence to Date
SAN DIEGO – Jahvaris Lamoun Springfield was sentenced in federal court today to 300 months in prison for selling the fentanyl pills that resulted in the fatal overdose of U.S. Army veteran Brendan James Gallagher on February 5, 2019. This is the longest sentence to date in this district for this crime.
On August 27, 2021, following a three-day trial before U.S. District Judge Larry Alan Burns, a jury convicted Springfield of causing Gallagher’s death by distributing fentanyl to Gallagher on February 5, 2019.
Read-Legalizing Crime and Criminality
The evidence presented at trial showed that Gallagher was a U.S. Army veteran who served overseas in Afghanistan. Upon his return to the United States, Gallagher was honorably discharged. In 2018, Gallagher moved from Boston to San Diego in an attempt to break his addiction. However, Gallagher turned to opioid drugs in the form of counterfeit oxycontin pills later that year.

The evidence also showed that, on the afternoon of February 5, 2019, Gallagher sent text messages to Springfield seeking to purchase oxycontin pills. Later that day, Gallagher’s roommates called 911 to report that Gallagher was nonresponsive in his bedroom. When agents arrived at the residence, they found two counterfeit oxycontin pills that tested positive for fentanyl. Additionally, Gallagher’s autopsy showed a fatal concentration of fentanyl in his blood. In the investigation that followed, agents obtained evidence showing that Springfield sold Gallagher pills on February 5, 2019. When agents arrested Springfield, they found counterfeit oxycontin pills that tested positive for fentanyl in the vehicle Springfield had been driving.
DEA Narcotics Task Force Team 10 led the investigation in this case. Team 10 is a specialty unit, with investigators from HSI, FBI, San Diego Police Department, CA Department of Health Care Services, and the San Diego District Attorney’s Office, that investigates overdose deaths in San Diego. Team 10 responds to the discovery of overdose victims and aggressively pursues criminal cases, up the distribution chain, against both the dealers and their sources of supply.
-Law Enforcement: The Reactionary Approach
“This is the longest federal sentence to date in a case of a drug dealer being held responsible for the death of a customer in the Southern District of California, and it should put dealers and those who supply them on notice. Every time we have an overdose death, law enforcement will come looking for you, because lives are at stake,” said U.S. Attorney Randy Grossman. “We will not stop with the street-level dealers but will follow the supply chain as far up as necessary and will use every available criminal and civil tool to combat this deadly epidemic and stop these tragic losses.” Grossman thanked the prosecution team as well as DEA Team 10 investigators for their hard work on the case.
-Government Workers-A Subject of Debate
“Today’s sentencing of Jahvaris Springfield is a reflection of the hard work of the investigators assigned to DEA’s Team 10,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge Shelly S. Howe. “These dedicated men and women work tirelessly around the clock to hold drug dealers accountable for the deaths they are causing and to bring justice to families who have lost their loved ones. This 25-year sentence is proof that their efforts have paid off.”
The United States Attorney’s Office is working closely with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, the San Diego Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration and other federal, state and local law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute cases targeting those who supply drugs in fatal overdose cases.

Don't Buy Govt Land from Fraudsters-ADC to Kenyans

The Agricultural Development Corporation(ADC) has warned Kenyans to ignore entreaties by fraudsters to sell the corporation's land nationwide at give-away prices.
The ADC issued this warning through its Director, Richard Ngomo, who lamented that several Kenyans have been swindled by the fraudsters.
“ADC land is not for sale. ADC has not given land, especially in the Coast region. Anybody purporting to be selling ADC land is doing so at his own risk. Any developer wanting to buy land knows the channels of getting land from private entities, but for public land, as far as ADC is concerned, is not available for disposal at this point in time,” he stated.

The Director cited the Coast region where Kenyans had bought over 500,000 pieces of land amounting to Ksh25 billion as a good example.
The director added that part of the 1.75 million acres of land for the Galana Kulalu project had been affected by fraudulent schemes with many dwellers purchasing the pieces of land below the market value.

The Grassroots and Government

The importance of the Local Government revolves around the need to attend to the expectations and welfare of the people at the grassroots.
In addition, the Local Government plays a vital role in Federal schemes of education, housing, transport among others, nationwide. It adopts the mainline of policy to local conditions.
Read-Legalizing Crime and Criminality
Sadly, the Local Government, under the present dispensation in Nigeria, is not independent.
Interestingly, a number of Chairmen and Councillors elected from their neighborhoods, now focus on recruiting cultists and other categories of criminals to intimidate, terrorize and attack residents of several communities, as social services continue to remain a mirage.
-Landlords and Tenants Associations, Crime and Criminality
Indeed, these elected officials are not known by the vast majority of the populace at the grassroots, while development is only on the pages of newspapers and speakers of radios.
Curiously, the character of growth to meet the needs of the poverty-stricken people come with lies, half-truths, and promises, even as insecurity is now the thriving industry to engage the disillusioned and impoverished people.
-Law Enforcement: The Reactionary Approach
Of worry is the overwhelming presence of criminals in most communities, who orchestrate well-coordinated acts of criminality, heinous and grievous crimes, and morally unacceptable behaviors including rape and homosexuality; involving the young and old, male and female alike.

Role Model Virtues for your Freedom by Prof. Sabitu Olagoke

Every individual is expected to be law-abiding in society, that is, to enjoy socio-spiritual immunity for total freedom. There is the need to be morally conscious and disciplined to attain the status of a role model in society for others to emulate.
However, when the virtues are lost, man is vulnerable to shame and disgrace.
To be upright a person must not be wayward and frivolous. This is imperative for the relevance of religion in society and to ensure peace and development.
The Holy Bible, Matthew 5: 20-24, refers,''20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
Read-Legalizing Crime and Criminality -Landlords and Tenants Associations, Crime and Criminality
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.''
The Holy Quran also corroborates the above, verse by verse with a perfect synergy to prove the oneness and universality of God, whose voice every man must heed.
The Holy Bible Matthew 5: 20, ''20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.'' and the Holy Quran 2: 42 emphasize the need to be a vanguard of truth. '' and cover not truth with falsehood, but we must control our temper, embrace patience as well as tolerance, as a culture to promote unbroken social interactions. In the final analysis, As in Matthew 5: 23-24, ''23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.'',
the message of the Holy Quran 41: 34, refers, ''realize that goodness and evil can never be equal. Repel evil with what is better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate !''
Let us realize that no good relationship can be established with God except with heed His admonitions, if and only if, we want a better world order. No prayer request from God shall be granted without having a sense of forgiveness, love for neighbors, and pardon for perceived enemies. Let today be a turning point.
This is the only way by which we can realize our freedom on earth the role model virtues to be an exemplar.

The Essence of Religious Rites by Prof. Sabitu Olagoke

Religion is a school of divine construct to achieve full social desire through faith building based on a positive mindset. This is for the purpose of attaining a perfect and good God/man relation.
Read- Legalizing Crime and Criminality
The Holy Bible Matthew 5 : 13–16, ‘’Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
-Landlords and Tenants Associations, Crime and Criminality
The Holy Quran equally asserts in 91 : 7–10 that we must realize and consciously live by the provisions of this scripture to be able to live by good examples as role models with constructive actions on earth.
7. “And by the soul and He Who perfected it,"
8,”Then inspired it to understand what is wrong and (what is) right for it,"
9. “Indeed he succeeds who purifies it,"
10. “And indeed he fails who corrupts it.”
Religious rites must, therefore, not be trivialized or put into the second fiddle of the classless state of rhetoric.
Religious rites is very essential in every aspect of life and has socio-divine benefit.

The Rule of Law

The survival of democracy depends to a great extent, on the just and efficient working of the courts of law.
The people look up to these courts for reprieve against those who interfere with their rights.
Through the declaration and application of law, the courts make public in provisions are not subject to the will of an arbitrary, Government, but rather to a known and accepted set of rules .
Read-Legalizing Crime and Criminality
In the present dispensation, the activities of the courts, when it comes to the dispensation of justice in civil and criminal matters, have not met the expectations of the people.
The quality of an unspecified number of Magistrates and Justices, who perhaps leave most of the work to their clerks is a discredit to the system.
The attitude, competence and integrity of judicial workers is also not a credit to the system.
-Landlords and Tenants Associations, Crime and Criminality
Sadly, the combination of the rule ‘’no wrong without remedy’’, with the Rule of Law, does not protect the citizen from unlawful imprisonment or other injury at the hands of Government officials and agents. This has resulted in countless number of illegal detentions.
Not surprisingly, the enemies of democracy, by creating insecurity, has led this administration, one step after the other, to curtail liberty on the pretext of preserving peace.
-Law Enforcement: The Reactionary Approach
In a democracy, the transparent recruitment and training of law enforcement agents and the appointment of judges and magistrates substantially determines the functionality of the rule of law.
All levels of Government, irrespective of political party affiliation are obsessed with power and since they are composed of human beings, they are inclined to resent criticism, and see in ti a danger to the peace, where none exists.
A Government with intentions to persecute, will naturally begin with the more unpopular personalities, and the arbitrary treatment of them will serve as a precedent for other sections in time to come.

Nigerian youths have been advised to identify those among them who are engaged in ritual killings for several purposes so that this would not threaten the prospects of those among them who are desirous to vie for political offices in the 2023 general elections.

This advice was given on Monday by an Ex-Officio of the Oyo State Council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC), who is also a former chairman of the union in the state, Comrade Andrew Emelieze.
‘’The youths who ought to confront the wrong system by challenging the evil of ritual killings are part of the evil by their engagement in fraud and other economic crimes. This is glaring in the unabating ritual killings in different parts of the country. To save the situation, the youths must identify and expose those among them who are involved.’’
-Landlords and Tenants Associations, Crime and Criminality
‘’Sadly, a number of those who are labeled elites and others in the lower rung of the social ladder play strategic roles in the unabating crime, in terms of material and moral support. Greed and the blind lust for wealth is also a factor. The affected youths are not acting alone, an unspecified number of older men and women are behind them. This is disturbing,'' Comrade Emelieze noted.

Concerned citizens, who are desirous to sustain the democratic form of government must meticulously understand the policies of dictatorships.
In addition, the sections and clauses of the constitution obstructing good governance and the causes of social injustice must be removed.
Read-Legalizing Crime and Criminality
Towards achieving this, the citizens ought to have access to qualitative education that would aid sound judgment, and morally promote interest in and respect for fellow citizens.
Indeed, democracy is a system that is least liable to abuse, most capable of adaptation to new needs and most favorable to prosperity.

Democracy does not deprive citizens of the use of their faculties, the relations between government and the people and between one citizen and another.
Citizens resolve their differences without resorting to violence in sane climes.
Furthermore, redundancy of spies becomes prominent and censorship is no longer the focus, when good government is in place.

Press Release
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A federal judge sentenced two Nigerian nationals yesterday for their role in an international money laundering conspiracy, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and FBI Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp, Jr.

U.S. District Court Judge Anna M. Manasco sentenced Paulinus Ebhodaghe, 40, of Clementon, New Jersey to 46 months in prison. Ebhodaghe pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering in September 2021. Ohimai Asikhia, 37, of Glassboro, New Jersey, was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Asikhia pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering in March 2021.

“The defendants helped cybercriminals obscure the source of their ill-gotten gains and squirrel away fraud proceeds in overseas accounts,” U.S. Attorney Escalona said. “Citizens are urged to carefully scrutinize any email directing the transfer of money via wire. I would like to thank the FBI for their hard work in tracking down and bringing these defendants to justice.”
“Business email compromise is one of the most financially damaging online crimes,” SAC Sharp said. It exploits the fact that so many of us rely on email to conduct business—both personal and professional. If you or your company fall victim to BEC, it’s important that you act quickly and notify your financial institution. Then, immediately file a report with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center, at www.ic3.gov.''
-Law Enforcement: The Reactionary Approach
According to court documents, from June 2018 through November 2018, Ebhodaghe and Asikhia helped launder hundreds of thousands of dollars in fraud proceeds. During the course of the conspiracy, they would receive wire transfers from business email compromise, romance scam, and other fraud victims; move the fraud proceeds between bank accounts to disguise their origin and conceal their fraudulent nature; and then wire the proceeds to bank accounts in Nigeria or use them to purchase automobiles that were shipped overseas. Ebhodaghe and Asikhia typically received fees of twenty percent or more of the funds that they laundered.
The FBI investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward J. Canter.

When the Government is desperate and resolute to cling to power, in the face of the unfavorable outcome of elections, election and the existence of political parties opposing the government do not constitute evidences of democracy.
Indeed, a number of countries have the forms of democracy, but the reality of dictatorship.
Without doubt there is a vital difference between democracy and dictatorship, however, it varies from one country to another.

The Holy Bible is a guide for better understanding. Romans 13: 1-5, ''Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.''
It demands, therefore, voting into office credible leaders who wil address the enligtenment essence of the people to be governed for ease of followership.
The leadership and followership synergy must be viewed through the perspective of enabling a good justice system for the effective implementation of programs and projects through the concept of equity for the system to enjoy peace and sustainable development.
The Holy Quran 38: 26 on the issue of justice and equity as the bedrock of a functional democracy, (Prophet(Dawud) is used an epitome of rulership by example). It refers, '' O david ! We did indeeed make theea vicegerent on earth : so judge thou between men in truth and justice : nor follow thou the lust of thy heart(say no to dictatorship), for it will mislead thee from thee from the path of Allah : for those who wander astray from the path of Allah, is a Chastisement Grievous, for that they forget the Day of Account.''
Rulers or leaders are are more accountable to God who will judge all actions. All positions of responsibilities shall be assessed by the people, but evaluated by God, the almighty Allah, who will have the final say on the day of judgment. Read-Law Enforcement: The Reactionary Approach
In conclusion, individuals who find themselves in power should dispense same with the fear of God.

The system of Government that works without ways of obtaining advantages of living together even when there are great obstacles to unity is most suitable for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It is imperative that under such a system, the special loyalty of an individual to such an ethnic persuasion which may be in conflict with the loyalty to the State must be accommodated to provide for the goodwill of the citizen.
The economic structure and fortunes of the country to a great extent explain its politics presently. Read-Legalizing Crime and Criminality
In Nigeria today, there are distinct differences in language, religion, and ethnic persuasion as a result the form of government that is in place ought to redress the grievances of the aggrieved. But this is not so. Read-Landlords and Tenants Associations, Crime and Criminality

God almighty will not compromise his stand on truth and falsehood, Godly behavior, and satanic influences. Respectively each of them attracts rewards and consequences of punishment.
Adultery, therefore, becomes the most hated act condemnable by society and almighty Allah.
Unfortunately, a very high percentage of mankind, prefer to live promiscuous lives, making the environment to be charged with the menace of torments and unpleasantries mainly because they are not scriptural. The following chapters and verses of the Holy Bible and the Holy Quran are vital food for thought.
The Holy Bible, Proverbs 5: 15-20 refers, ''15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?''
To be able to achieve successfully the above admonition and live a Godly life, the Holy Quran admonishes all believers in Islam who are qualified to be called Muslims in 4 : 3, '' If you fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans(women considered to be of low class). Marry women of your choice, 2, 3 or 4; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with them, then only ONE or that which your right hand possesses (your heart's desire). That would be more suitable to prevent you from injustice.''
Human failure to follow the above injunctions has led to serious cases of separation, neglect, and the most distasteful act before God-divorce. This has led to the consequence of poor child-rearing, making the homes produce problem children. We must all, therefore, be conscious of the need to respect the sacredness of marriage institutions as established by the almighty God, for mankind to be able to produce and establish a virile nation.
The Holy Quran 30: 21 refers for all to be able to live by the fear of God for exemplary lifestyles bequeathable to posterity.
''And among the signs is this that He created for you maids from among yourselves that ye may dwell in tranquility with them and He has put love and mercy between your hearts: verily in that are signs for those who reflect.''
If we are able to live by the divine codes, most especially on these injunctions that admonish that we should live decently, marriages would be saved and child-rearing would be successful to produce better generations that would be able to develop rightly, building on the solid foundation of today. Enjoy your own wife only.

The lawmakers are able to do this and get away with it because Nigerians are docile,'' Comrade Emelieze declared.
