Plea for Debt Forgiveness Questionable and Laughable-Ex-Officio TUC

Debt 2The plea for debt forgiveness by the leadership in Nigeria at the recently concluded 76TH United Nations General Assembly has been described has questionable and laughable.

These views were expressed by an Ex-Officio of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC) who is also a former Chairman of the union in the state,Comrade Andrew Emelieze.

‘’How can a country that is yet to settle debts of over 33 Trillion Naira and which is still planning to borrow ask for debt forgiveness ? How has the unsettled loans been spent ? How shall the loans that shall be borrowed be spent ? The present administration has less than two years to stay in office. The request by Nigeria is questionable and laughable. This is tantamount to taking the international creditors for granted’’, Comrade Emelize concluded.

The Mindset of Leaders and Economic Prosperity

InBy the 18th century, iron and coal became examples of industries that were capitalist in peculiar ways.
From inception both industries were capitalist inclined, since they required heavy expenditure for the actual process of production.
The labor force comprised of wage earners working for a master and were not owners of the forge, iron ore or coalmine.
Similarly, as early as the 17th century, a sizable number of comparatively small industries emerged namely, soap, brewing, glass and salt-making industries.

However, during this period the interest in agriculture was still very strong, with the handicraft men more prominent than the industrial or commercial capitalist.

In the second half of the 18th century, the growth of the population prompting the increase in the demand for goods, improved transportation system, unprecedented mechanical inventions, new materials and improved chemical processes resulted in the industrial revolution.

Industries such as coal and hardware made use of increased quantities of coal, just as coal was also used as fuel.

After the repeal of the General Export Duty in 1834, coal and iron became foremost in the export market.

Birmingham, Sheffield and Glasgow known for cotton experienced economic growth between 1821 and 1831.

Sadly,in Nigeria today, despite the presence of all the factors that prompted the industrial revolution in Britain and the large deposits of coal, iron ore and several other mineral resources in different parts of the country, Nigeria is still largely import dependent for most of its needs. The poverty rate in Nigeria is now 50 per cent in 2021 as a result of misplaced priorities, mediocrity and incompetence.

Indeed, the colored race are the major investors in biscuits, sweets, detergents and furniture.

Exploitation of labor, austere wages, poor working conditions and other sharp practices, have all contributed to the survival of these investors.

Interestingly, the distribution of soft drinks produced in plastics, questionable alcoholic drinks in sachets among others are now the choice of business inclined Nigerians.

Those-in-Charge are now tinkering with the idea of vigorously promoting activities in the agricultural sector, despite years of neglect and in the middle of unabating killings(for ritual purposes inclusive), kidnappings and other forms of violence in 2021,while Britain ceased to be primarily agricultural in the second half of the 18th century.

The consensus among focused and development inclined leaders,is that the mindset of those that formulated policies to a great extent determines the economic fortunes and prosperity of countries of the world.

Pope 3

Violence by Prof. Sabitu Olagoke

Prof 2Violence disrupts a system's equilibrium of static of dynamic state.  It is a reaction to express dissatisfaction over issues or against personalities that do not meet up with the interests of the people.
The causes may be due to vengeance intentions or against perceived actions considered to undermine earlier agreements made between warring factions and the system they want to attract.
It is characteristic of non-organized societies, where hoodlums usually hijack a genuine cause or organized setting characterized by considered oppression acts that trample on the people's fundamental human rights. Violence disturbs and disrupts the socialization process and pushes the system into a state of chaos. At times, it paralyzes the socio-economic and political activities of the state or society.
Rape, pedophilia, woman battery among others are some forms of violence.
Also, the school is the second home of every child, in this respect bullying children is a form of violence.
Furthermore, forced initiations among cultists dehumanize the victims into becoming a cheap instrument to perpetuate violence.
Cases of gang rape always leave behind scars of fear that lingers for a long time in their lives.
As regards public institutions, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies,  there is always a disagreement between the management and the union, most especially on related issues of labor and economic shortchanging.
There is every need of r violence-related issues to be treated as a worthy subject in the home and the school.

ViolenceDisputes on land matters, territorial claims, ethnic or tribal differences may lead to violence. However, proactive measures by community leaders,
violence-prone.
In the religious sphere, denominational and sectarian differences with the challenges of an improper conjecture of the scripture for the ease of internalization may lead to intolerance of one another with such disdain that may lead to unwarranted hatred among acclaimed children of God.
How catalytic and irrational are such religious adherents who usually hide under the cover of religion to celebrate violence by killing fellow human beings.
Democracy equations stand on the strong legs of justice and equity, but when allowed to be altered,  will not only disrupt the peace and sustainable development process but promote an unsafe and insecure environment for governance.
Those in government may lose control if not rightly and timely checked.
Major causes of agitations by the people are poor and bad governance.
An environment of justice and equity is crucial to eradicating all acts of violence with our consciousness of the fact that dialogue is meaningful only when compromise is attained.

Fraud 1

Ghanaian National Sentenced for Online Romance Fraud Scheme

NORFOLK, Va. – A Ghanaian national was sentenced on Friday to 40 months in prison for wire fraud as part of his scheme to defraud victims on a dating website.
“The defendant repeatedly and shamelessly defrauded a recently widowed victim through a variety of manipulative tactics, leaving her in financial ruins,” said Raj Parekh, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. “As this case demonstrates, reporting these scams to law enforcement helps us uncover the fraud schemes and bring scammers, like this defendant, to justice.”
According to court documents, Richard Yaw Dorpe, 38, posed as a single, 57-year-old man from Virginia Beach on “OurTime,” an online dating website for people over 50 years old. Dorpe purported to be a jeweler who was traveling abroad to buy gold and other jewelry before returning home to Virginia Beach. Dorpe met victim E.F., who was a 68-year-old recent widow from Chesapeake, on the website and started an online romantic relationship. Between August 2016 and January 2017, through his romantic manipulations, Dorpe convinced E.F. to send clothes, jewelry, a computer, a watch, and over $300,000 to him. Eventually, E.F. realized she was a victim of a scam and was contacted by the FBI.
In January, Ghana approved the United States’ extradition request and the FBI brought Dorpe to the Eastern District of Virginia to face charges. Dorpe pleaded guilty to wire fraud in May.
Raj Parekh, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Brian Dugan, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Norfolk Field Office, made the announcement after sentencing by U.S. District Judge Arenda Wright Allen.
Valuable assistance concerning the extradition of Dorpe from Ghana to the United States was provided by Ghana’s Economic and Organized Crime Office, the Ghana Police Service, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), the National Security Agency of Ghana, and the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General’s Office of Ghana. Additional valuable assistance was provided by the FBI Legal Attaché Office, the DEA Country Liaison, the Regional Security Office, and staff at the U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana. The Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs also provided significant assistance in securing his extradition from Ghana.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Yusi prosecuted the case.
Combatting elder abuse and financial fraud targeted at seniors is a key priority of the Department of Justice. Elder abuse is an intentional or negligent act by any person that causes harm or a serious risk of harm to an older adult. It is a term used to describe five subtypes of elder abuse: physical abuse, financial fraud, scams and exploitation, caregiver neglect and abandonment, psychological abuse, and sexual abuse. Elder abuse is a serious crime against some of our nation’s most vulnerable citizens, affecting at least 10 percent of older Americans every year. Together with our federal, state, local, and tribal partners, the Department of Justice is steadfastly committed to combatting all forms of elder abuse and financial exploitation through enforcement actions, training and resources, research, victim services, and public awareness. This holistic and robust response demonstrates the Department’s unwavering dedication to fighting for justice for older Americans.

Obedience

Obedience By Prof. Sabitu Olagoke

Prof 2Obedience has a socio-cultural significance in the life of every man at every point in time transactions or interpersonal relations.
Obedience as a subject matter cuts across all spheres of life.
At the divine level, prophets recorded to be successful in their missionary work to effect changes among mankind were charged to uphold the culture of obedience to God, Whose commandments they were charged to implement without fear or favor.
Their ability to stand by the accompanying rules of law as set out by God for the societies always strengthens them into a successful message delivery which always stands the test of time as eternal for all generations coming after them.
This is what upholds the sacredness of all the scriptures to date and it is equally a great yardstick against which human compliance with the dictates of God through the scriptures are evaluated for ease of the classification the state of the piety of adherents.
On the home front, God is seen as the overseer on the obedience rule of going about their assignments or responsibilities given to each member of the household.
Husbands who cannot care for their wives are regarded as been disobedient to God, so also poor parenting is a violation of having respect for the rule of law that expects parents to be responsible for the wellness or socio-spiritual care of their children or wards.

Obedience 1
At the workplace, there is always an administrative line of authority that is always structured to stand through ethics and obedience to the senior ones as leaders or superiors.
Disobeying their instructions may be counted as an act of insubordination, an offense punishable by the public or civil service rules.
In schools, pupils or students must obey the instruction of their teachers, while the teachers are not expected to bully the students.
Appointed or elected officials of government need to swear to the oath of allegiance to the nation by been obedient to the rules of law in the constitution.
When there is no synergy between governance and the provisions of the constitution, acts of disobedience sets in, which may snowball into unpleasant situations.
When the government does not obey court judgments the rule of law suffers. Obedience ensures that governance takes place without impediments.

Truth

I Fight to Defend Truth and Justice-Eze(Dr.)Anozie

Eze 6In Nigeria presently, the people desire leaders that shall inspire them in these challenging times.

But unfortunately, such leaders are yet to emerge. Indeed, a number of them have led their people astray to the extent that disillusionment, hopelessness and bitterness are now their lot.

In this interview with Federationews2day,the Ezendigbo of Ibadanand Oyo state,Eze(Dr.)AlexAnozie says tha his guiding light is truth and justice. Excerpts :

What is your philosophy of life ?

The first message on my philosophy of life and that is what has been guiding me is loving God, trusting God, and God alone.
This is in addition to loving my fellow human beings and my neighbors, irrespective of their religion, their ethnic affiliation, and their status in the society-rich or poor, literate or illiterate, I love everybody.
But those who are my best friends are those who believe in the truth and justice in every situation.
If I am confronted with any problem or worrisome situation with any individual, it is because I fight to defend truth and justice. These are the key ingredients that make up my philosophy of life.
In addition, I accord respect to everybody, irrespective of social or economic status, particularly when such a person is in that line of truth and justice. I respect such persons so much. Why, because before God, all of us are equal and everybody is important, even the foolish man or foolish woman is important, so I respect everybody. It may interest you to know that for the past 45 years or thereabout, I have been in this part of Nigeria, Ibadan, Oyo state, watching over my business and other areas, I cannot remember any day I had an exchange of dirty words with anybody, be it my friends, my neighbors, patients/customers. I cannot remember exchanging dirty words with anyone.

Truth 1
Everybody is free to make inquiries, whether I am saying the truth or telling lies.  It is not because I am perfect in all I do, because it is only God that is perfect in everything He does. It may be it is because I tolerate and endure reasonably enough. These are among the aspects that make up my philosophy of life.
philosophy of life.
And I think, one of the things that make this to be possible is that I always meditate on one of the commandments of God,  that states, 'Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself.'' So, I make sure that I put it into practice as much as possible.
And you know what, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is my God. As He was God to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, so He is God to me. As He was God to Joseph, so He is God to me. As He was God to Moses, so He is God to me.  As He was God to King David, so He is God to me. As He was God to King Solomon, so He is God to me.
All these great men of God went through several travails, my travails are nearly similar to theirs.
However, one aspect that is very worrisome to me, is that human beings have transformed from the human beings they ought to be to something else. Human beings are now killing one another. Human beings are now destroying one another, to the extent that it seems that animals value life more than human beings do.
Quotes  By Eze(Dr.) Alex Anozie :
1)Do Good always. But, where you can do nod good, Do No Evil.
2)In every situation try to make a decision, for not taking any decision is another failure altogether.

3)Take risk only when there is no alternative.

4)The right time to do the right thing is all the time, then, all becomes well all the time

Child 1

Children and Parents by Prof. Sabitu Olagoke

Prof 3The importance of children and parents in society cannot be overemphasized. Only children who have been supported while growing up by parents as responsible providers of social needs and spiritual fortification example can in the future have the wherewithal to ensure healthy living for the parents in their old age. This is why the Holy Bible presents a divine format for a good parent/children relationship upon which everybody would be judged by the almighty Allah.
Ephesians 6: 1-4, ''Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.''

Child 1
The Hol Quran admonishes us to retrace our footsteps into a life of sanity and civility. 17: 23-24, refers '' Thy Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him and that you be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt or repel them, but address them in terms of honor, and out of kindness lower to them the wing of humility, and say, My Lord! Bestow on them Thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood.''
My prayer is that Allah will keep the parents to be able to serve aright their nation through responsible child-rearing while the Almighty Allah will equally fortify the children with knowledge, wisdom, and the power of the discerning mind to be able to grow aright with good payback to the society that has produced them and the nation that they are supposed to serve including their parents.

Fraud

Use NNPC Profits to Build Quality Hospitals-Eze(Dr.)Anozie

                                                             Press Release

The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) first audited financial statements after 43 years of its operation this period and as never been in the years past, I am suggesting that the federal government should make use of it, if not all, part of it, to construct those particular types of hospitals found abroad that lures almost all Nigerians into traveling abroad for treatment.

Such should be constructed in these six geo-political zones, one for each zone. Exactly the types of hospitals and facilities that could be found overseas.

In addition, the government should encourage our well-qualified Nigerian medical Doctors and specialists, to come back to the country to render their expert services in those hospitals.

Expatriates specialists should also be employed to work there. The elite, political class, and other categories of Nigerians would be treated in these hospitals. It is possible. By so doing, we would have invested very well in this profits accruing to the NNPC.

But I am worried about the mindset of the medical Doctors and specialists considering the unabating insecurity in the country, they may be afraid to come to the country.

Finally, let us all join hands together to pray fervently and ceaselessly for peace and unity while the Government at all levels should do everything possible to put an end to the insecurity in the country, to make the above laudable suggestions possible.

When all these have been done, you can imagine the humungous amount the country would save from medical tourism, foreign exchange wise.

Signed
